We often think volunteering is about giving something back.
But after spending time with Helen, who’s volunteered at the Art Gallery of Western Australia for nearly two decades, it became clear it’s about much more than that.
Every Friday, Helen welcomes visitors through the gallery’s doors, chats with strangers from around the world, celebrates young artists seeing their work on the walls for the first time, and has found a community she now considers family.
